I've been hearing about Allen Lim's rice cakes for a couple of years, and yesterday I found the youtube video that shows how to make them. Coatney and me made up a batch to try out. They're pretty easy to make and easy to eat. Tasty too. We also made some homemade power bar type things as well. The recipie is in the latest Velo News.
One issue I've always had with taking along homemade stuff to eat was how to unwrap the item easily while riding. The way Allen Lim shows how to wrap the rice cakes in foil makes it a lot easier to get into while riding. I tried it out yesterday and it works well.
These are the rice cakes. Just waiting to be cut up and wrapped.
These are the homemade power bars. We used penut butter, honey, pecans, choclate chips, craisins, and Kashi puffed rice cereal.
